security display - xylolab

With around fifteen machining centers available in its large workshop, the challenge for Xylolab was to reconcile free use with the safety of its many members.

We responded to this crucial need by designing striking graphic supports, translating complex instructions into universal pictograms that immediately guide the user on the capacity and rules of use of each machine.

safety pictograms

The Fab Lab is open to all, so it was imperative that each user be able to quickly understand the use and safety instructions of the available equipment. We designed graphic educational materials for each machine.
These signs use clear, universal pictograms describing the safety rules to be followed, the machine's capacity, and tips for easier use.

These supports serve a dual function: they are both visual safety guides and mounting boards that centralize essential tools and the operating instructions for each machine. The result ensures a safer and more autonomous working environment for the community.
Production: These boards were crafted by Xylolab using 3-ply Vosges beech wood. They were then colour-printed by Graphimage in Épinal, and finally hand-varnished by the workshop to ensure their durability and resistance.

awareness posters

While the pictogram signs focused on machine use, another challenge for Xylolab was ensuring daily compliance with workshop rules (cleaning, wearing PPE, sobriety, etc.).
To ensure these vital messages wouldn't go unnoticed, we chose a radically different approach, focusing on humor and quirkiness.

We designed a series of impactful safety reminder posters using a photomontage/collage technique and a vibrant, eye-catching color palette.
These bold displays don't just capture the eye: each visual composition is reinforced with a powerful sentance to ensure the essential messages are effectively conveyed to users.

Production: The graphics were designed and printed in colour by Graphimage on A1 sized white PVC panels, ensuring maximum visibility and excellent durability in the workshop environment.
