Our story

Julia Pierre, fondatrice de l'entreprise Echo Oi, en portrait.

My name is Julia, and it is in the heart of the Vosges that I grew up, to the rhythm of the forests and the stories whispered within them. As a child, my passion for Playmobil was not just a game, but a miniature world. My imagination was an endless canvas where I built houses, creating spaces filled with life, ready to welcome the stories of families to come.

Later, by following my Dad on construction and renovation sites, I immersed myself in the real world. I first learned to observe the place, to understand its essence, and finally dared to create...

A journey that, I have understood, is the true essence of design.

It was after my scientific baccalaureate that I dived, more motivated than ever, into a Foundation Year in Applied Arts in Nancy. This step was crucial in confirming my choice before specialising in a BTS in Product Design in Toulouse.

My journey then took me to La Souterraine, where I pursued a Master's in Eco-Responsible Design, specialising in Product Design. These two years of Master's were an opportunity to explore my skills and to understand, in depth, how the shape can tell a story.

Having obtained my degree in 2022, I was guided by the desire to discover another culture. It was in Hanoi, Vietnam — a country whose soul I had already touched upon in 2018 — that my adventure began. There, I discovered a whirlwind of colours, flavours, and scents that ignited my creativity...

It is here, since 2023, at Legacy Handmade Furniture, that I have realised an essential thing: a soulless object is a silent object. Through unique creations, we resonate with Vietnamese culture.

I learned versatility by participating in every step: from listening to clients to the creation of a design, from dialogue with artisans to the delivery of the piece of furniture that would become the heart of a home.

Écho Oï was born from this conviction: to tell stories through shapes and objects. It is the meeting of two worlds that resonate with each other, a bridge between the past and the future.

When the echo and
the call meet...

se rencontrent...

The name Écho Oï is a bridge between two worlds, a fusion of concepts that tells the story of our vision and our client's journey.

echo: The Resonance of Design

The word Echo symbolises the resonance of the stories we want to tell. Through each of our designs and creations, we reference, we echo the personal story that our clients wish to communicate. Each creation is designed to leave a lasting impression, so that it continues to speak long after its discovery. This echo is also a testament to our commitment to sustainability and quality, as a well-thought-out and well-crafted design is meant to stand the test of time.

oI: The Call to History

is a Vietnamese word used to call out and attract attention. It reflects our desire to create designs that captivate the eye and spark interest. This word is also a nod to my journey in Vietnam, a professional and personal experience that has been foundational in my path and vision of design. It is there that our creative guideline was forged: to bring a story to life by working on a shape, a volume, a system, or a colour, which takes on its full meaning through its production.

our values

At Écho Oï, we believe that design has the power to tell stories. Our values reflect our commitment to quality, sustainability, and highlighting unique craftsmanship.

susciter une emotion

Every object, piece of furniture, or shape that we create carries a deeper meaning within it. It is a story that we want to tell or that resonates with a personal feeling.

Through our creations, our aim is to evoke an emotion, to rekindle a memory, or to highlight a precious detail.

Creativity & Research

Our approach is guided by a constant search for meaning in the cultures and the world around us.

We draw our creativity from the details of everyday life, those little things that evoke a reminiscence, stir an emotion, and capture our interest.

Craft & Locality

Our approach aims to create connections between artisans, designers, and to highlight local expertise.

As far as possible, we are committed to using resources from short supply chains, to promote the local economy and minimise our ecological impact.

quality & durability

The quality and durability are the foundation of our eco-friendly approach.

Each creation is designed to respect the environment and stand the test of time.
